Athens has tons of graffiti. Tons. And most of it is not so good. But, some of it is really pretty cool. This trip I ran across a graffiti artist who is using fabric scraps glued to the wall as part of her designs (I’m assuming the artist is a woman, though I have no basis for this besides the use of fabric and the female characters that are the focus of the drawings). We saw two of her pieces walking around the city. This one is in a tucked away corner of the Plaka neighborhood.
The artist “b.” was all over the place in the Psyrri neighborhood, a more recently gentrified neighborhood with its share of condemmed buildings and an artistic flair. The yellow made them stand out, combined with a cute drawing style and a fairy tale quality.
