Announcing Provflux 2007!

July 9th, 2007 · by Peter · No Comments · Cities, Events, Public Art

Psychogeography comes to Providence this weekend during Provflux 2007 (July 12 – 15). Presented by PIPS, Provflux is describes as part festival and part conference. A truly inspiring way to explore the urban landscape and meet national thinkers, artists, writers, and every day city residents going about their day.

I lived in Providence for the first three Provflux events and can tell you that it is a day worth participating. Check out the Provflux schedule online, some events are planned with locations, speaker and performances - others happen spontaneously throughout the city. Some of my past favorite adventures of Provflux have been, urban tennis ball golf, the bus party, and the HP Lovecraft ice cream tour (Provflux 2005).

Provflux attracts artists from across the country and the across the Atlantic. This years keynote speaker is Bert Crenca, AS220 founder, Providence Artist, and Providence School Board Member - a must see talk by the grandfather of Providence’s arts community.

From the Provflux web site: The simple premise behind ProvFlux is to create an environment of positive activity, and to continue expanding upon the ideas of what one can do in their city. It exists to invite people from all walks of life to meet on the common ground that is our city streets, in an unjuried, completely free and 100% participatory environment.
