Did you notice the grey sky on Sunday and Monday? I did, and of course did not think anything of it, seemed to me like a typical grey winter day. But low and behold - it was air pollution. Unhealthy levels of polluted air blew into southern Maine on Sunday and Monday and are spreading farther across the state today, according to the Department of Environmental Protection. This is the first time the agency has issued Air Quality warnings in winter months in Maine since they started monitoring in 1999. The polluted air is blowing in from southwest states carrying with it particulate from power plants, factories, and urban traffic.
