Portland locals, Linda Wary and John Meyers, located a few blocks form Eli Phant, are collectors extraordinaire. They hunt religiously for the yard sale items that will fit perfectly in their next project, even if they don’t know what that next project is.

PICNIC Music + Art Festival in Portland- Vendor Application Due Friday

Taking Art to the Streets: Sculptcycle in Montpelier

As part of my trip across New England last weekend, I made a quick coffee stop in Montpelier. There I noticed a fun temporary public art project- Sculptcycle 2008. The unique art partnership has brought the work of more than 20 Vermont Artists to the streets of the state capital. Check out some pictures I took of the sculptures on my trip.

Yesterday Bitsy (our new intern for Port City Studios) and I went over to watch Vivian Beer finish up the installation of her two public art pieces at Winslow Park. As co-chair of the Winslow Park Selection Committee with Jay York, I was part of the group that selected Vivian’s work for this location. It was a fun process, and it is particularly exciting to see the pieces in place.

Reverb: Radio + Writing + Photography

Salt Institute For Documentary Studies held it semi-annual student exhibition at Space Gallery on May 26th. The exhibit featured radio, writing, and photography pieces of stories from Maine. It was pretty funny watching a crowd of people stare at an empty stage while the radio pieces were airing. Check out Salt here.
